About Me

About
Welcome to Felish…da dish! This is my little corner of the world where I’ve been sharing what’s going on in my life since April 2003. A lot has changed in my life since then, but my nickname (and blog title) is still going strong.

My name is Felicia, and I’ve been blogging here, in some form or another, since I was 21 and still in college. Now, I’m fresh out of graduate school and trying to figure out what happens next.

I’m originally from Philadelphia (“born and raised”, just like the Fresh Prince). I attended Haverford College, where I spent 4 great years growing up with some fantastic friends who I am lucky to still have in my life.

After I graduated, I made a move up to New England, where I’ve been ever since. I’ve called Boston my home since 2006, but I’ll always be a Philly gal at heart. Water is pronounced ‘wudder’, ‘going down the shore’ still means going to the beach, and Phillies trump the Red Sox any day.

Like most 20-somethings, it took a while for me to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Even though I am still figuring things out, I just graduated from Boston University with 2 masters degrees– an MBA in Marketing, and an MS in Information Systems. I’m not a tech geek by any stretch of the imagination, but technology is interesting and I’m going to see where this path takes me next.

I’ve been lucky enough to land a great job with a great company in Cambridge. Even though I had a great 2 years with BU, I’m looking forward to getting back to reality after having been a full-time student. This means getting my own place, eating healthy, and starting to work out again. Hopefully this blog will be one way to stay in touch with people as we head out to different destinations, and also a way to make new connections.

Previous “About Me’s”

Hi. I’m Felicia (aka “Felish”). I’m a first year second year dual degree (MS-MBA) student in Boston, MA.

I’ve been living in Boston for the past 5 years, although I’m originally from Philadelphia. That means I pronounce ‘water’ as ‘wudder’, and although I’ve been valiantly resisting it, ‘wicked’ has started to creep into my vocabulary. That also means that I am a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. Living near Fenway has been an interesting experience, to say the least.

Life has changed dramatically since I started school, but my days are packed and there is always something going on. Besides attending class, I am busy learning more about crowdsourcing and internet marketing for a consulting project with an online startup. I’m working this summer at VMware in Cambridge, and I absolutely love what I’m doing! I spend my days learning about web marketing strategies, infrastructure requirements, and cloud computing– very cool. Besides my crazy class-load, I work part-time for VMware in Cambridge, and will be joining them full-time once I graduate. Woo hoo employment here I come!!!

I participate in the BU PNP Club, Net Impact Chapter, Lime Connect events, and serve as the faculty committee co-chair for BU’s Link Day. the Women’s MBA Association. You’ll also see me at the gym, practicing the violin, sitting in the grad lounge, sitting on the banks of the Charles River pretending I’m at the beach, catching up with the NY Times, or sneaking in the occasional half hour of reality TV (what can I say, free time decreases drastically once school’s back in session!). I go to school with a great group of people, and if I’m not doing any of the above-mentioned things, I’m hanging out with BU MBAs. Good school, great people!

Thank you for taking the time to check out some scenes from my random life!

Felicia

P.S. the name of the blog is derived from one of my more prevalent nicknames. Let’s just say that when my parents named me, they thought they’d hit on a combination that wouldn’t invite nicknames. Little did they realize that, 2729 :-( years later, I’d have a list that is literally pages long, filled with nickname after name. Lovely.

  1. Hey Felicia! I love the blog. And to respond to your comment on my “Mystery Loss” post, I’m sorry you had to go through something similar too! Now that I wrote out my feelings in that post I agree with you… sometimes we just have to let go :)
