How To…

… escape a bad date:

Stop the guy as you’re walking to a concert together and tell him the following: ‘it’s too hot to continue this date. SO….. I think I’m just going to Uber home.’

Stand and watch him walk away from you until you’re sure he’s not going to look back, and run in the opposite direction (I’m too cheap to actually take that Uber).

Yes, I have my life together!

I Podcast Now

Hello! Guess what? Yesterday we launched our She Geeks Out podcast! Yup that’s right, I’m a podcast host!

Podcast Hosts Extraordinaire

We actually launched a version of this earlier this year, but decided to pull those few episodes and revamp what we had started off with. After learning how to properly hold a microphone (hint: you don’t need to make out with it), figuring out how iTunes works (we’re still not entirely sure), and lining up a bunch of awesome women to chat with, we are now live!

It’s very exciting because I love to talk with anyone who will listen about what Rachel and I are up to with SGO. And I’m also thrilled to be able to highlight the voices of some of the super cool ladies who we get to work with and hear from.

Here’s the deal! Go here and read more about our SGO Podcast Contest (you can win things!). Go to iTunes or whatever app you prefer, subscribe, download, rate and review us. I really do think you’ll like what you hear. And let me know what you think!

I’m Still Here

Wow, life has been busy. No posts here since March! Lots to update on, but that’s a post for another time. Just wanted to quickly note how crazy life is– four years ago this month I was visiting the doctor almost daily, giving myself shots, and getting blood drawn on the regular. I was miserable, I was probably experiencing some kind of PTSD, and I was not at a good point in my life.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve just bought my first pair of size 4 jeans… ever! That’s at least five sizes down over the last four years, maybe more. I’m probably the fittest I’ve been since I was four years old. That is kind of mind-blowing for me, to be honest. I’m really not used to thinking of myself as a small person. I’m used to having constant body-negative commentary running in the back of my head.

I have been seeing a personal trainer since 2012 (two over the years), and it’s not easy. I find that it’s a constant struggle to fit in the exercise, to push myself, to go hard, to eat well, to not have that second glass of wine. And that’s why I pay someone to essentially watch me sweat, and yell at me. But she’s also there to share in the good moments– like when I told her today about my clothing size revelation. I don’t always hit my major milestones in life, but sometimes the small ones are just as sweet.

Over It

So I tried to sign up for a ‘new’ dating website (new as in, I haven’t used it in a few years) over the weekend just to mix things up a bit. Almost immediately I was reminded why I hate dating and online dating in particular, when I got a message from naked poetry pie guy. Yup, three years later and he’s still trolling. I just can’t.

Boston is Small 2.0

That awkward moment when you bump into that guy at the gym who you went on a date with ages ago and who never texted back. Also you see him on the regular at the coffee shop he works at. No eye contact!

Boston is Small

That convoluted moment when you realize that one of the latest followers on your semi-secret OTHER Instagram account is the ex-wife of that dude you were texting with last year who asked you on a date and then flaked on you. Hmm.

2015 in review

OK, first of all– how crazy is it that I haven’t posted in MONTHS?! Second of all, this is a bit overdue but here is my year in review report!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,600 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 43 trips to carry that many people.

Nightmare Come True

So many of you may remember that one of my greatest fears is a serial killer breaking in and hiding behind my shower curtain.

Well, my nightmare has basically come true.

Post Fail

So my plan to post every day was an epic fail. Oh well. This is my blog and I can do whatever I want.

Guys, I had an amazing shoe day today. I tracked down each of the three pairs of shoes I’ve been stalking for AGES. Maybe only a fellow shopper can really appreciate how awesome this is, but seriously– it’s like stumbling over a pearl in your oyster. I love tracking things down, and it’s even better when they are on sale!
